Melbourne Beach Weekend

Recently, my husband and I enjoyed a relaxing weekend getaway to Melbourne Beach, where we stayed at Oceanfront Cottages in the amazing Havana Suite. Please note that this is an adult-only property. The property manager, Chastity, is very easy to reach and has great restaurant recommendations, many of which we referenced during our stay.
Out of the five available cottages, the Havana Suite is the only one that doesn’t have a full-size kitchen. However, it does have a mini fridge, a microwave, a coffee maker, a compact sink, and a small assortment of glasses. It’s perfect for a weekend stay, but for a longer visit I would opt for a different suite. The property is very well maintained and clean, a feat often difficult when near the ocean. The king-sized bed was extraordinarily comfortable and the shower’s pressure was perfect, both of which are important to me. I liked that there were multiple places for hand towels in the bathroom, as well as a few toiletries available in case you forgot something.
As the Havana Suite is on the second floor, we spent hours in the balcony’s polywood chairs gazing out upon the view. If you’d prefer, there’s also a lounge chair and a hot tub available. While you need to look across a parking lot to see the ocean, this doesn’t interfere with the overall experience. During our stay, the parking lot wasn’t busy so there was very little traffic, meaning we could still hear the comforting ocean waves.
You get amazing scenery at night and beautiful sunrise views from the balcony!
From the cottages, it’s only a 10-minute walk to a variety of restaurants and stores. Once we parked in our allotted spot, we didn’t drive again until it was time to leave. One parking spot is provided per suite.
We had dinner at Scott’s On Fifth and my mouth waters just thinking about returning! The owner, Scott, is not only the sole chef in the kitchen but also designed and decorated the restaurant. The interior is shiny, sparkly, and just overall visually fascinating. The themed bathrooms are some of the nicest I’ve seen, and the pictures are just a small taste of all there is!
We didn’t have a single subpar dish at Scott’s. Like I said before, Scott is the only chef, so your order may come slower than you’re used to but it’s well worth the wait. We enjoyed appetizers, the soup or salad that came with our main meals, seafood, and dessert, as you can see by the pictures. They even put a sparkler in our dessert for our anniversary!
Around the World Café’s food was so good we dug in before I remembered to get photos! The delectable rosemary bread is made in-house, and it shows. It is a family-run restaurant, so don’t be surprised if a young teenager introduces themself as your server.
Beachside Café’s small-diner-feel is welcoming and friendly, as are its staff. We ordered a filling breakfast of a California skillet, their homemade rye bread as toast, pumpkin pancakes, and home fries. Be warned– their portions are as large as the food is tasty, which is to say extremely!
We visited Café Surfinista for a light and refreshing lunch of a smoothie and an açaí bowl. The restaurant was right off the beach, leading to a relaxing time enjoying our food.
The second night of our visit, we didn’t want to abandon our balcony’s view so we ordered delivery from Oceanside Pizza. We got the Mediterranean Specialty pizza, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. There’s nothing like a tasty pizza enjoyed on a balcony in the salty night air with ocean waves in the background!
The weekend was over far too soon for our liking. We loved the peacefulness of Oceanfront Cottages and the impressive food options surrounding it. This trip was fantastic, and we hope to visit again sometime!
